FA/CMA 3265 3.00   Revolt! Films and TV Against Capitalism

Course Description:

This course surveys a variety of films and television series that challenge the hegemony of capitalism through representations of its dominant tendencies, including its production of wealth disparity and class struggle, its exploitation of humans and the natural environment, its promotion of settler-colonialism and racism, its contribution to feelings of alienation and powerlessness, its perpetuation of patriarchy and misogyny, and its production of social, economic, and political crises, generally. Open to non-majors. Prerequisite: FA/CMA 1400 6.0 or 1401 6.0 or permission of the department.
